Laser Tattoo Removal
I have been removing tattoos with ND:Yag laser system since 2014. Laser tattoo removal is a long process and works by targeting the large ink molecules of the tattoo, breaking them down and then your body recognising that there is something foreign that needs to be removed from the body. Cells will go to that area to take away the foreign ink and it will be moved by the blood stream and excreted out.
It takes on average 8-10 sessions for full removal, and this needs to be spread out with 8-12 weeks between sessions. Some tattoos are not able to be fully removed due to scarring under the tattoo or hard colours to remove (red and greens!) Laser cost from £30 per session to £80 a session.
A patch test must be done 2 weeks prior to full treatment to see how well the skin reacts to the laser and to see whether you would prefer to numb the area prior to coming next. Numbing cream is not provided as it needs to be applied 1 hour before and cling film applied over the area for maximum absorption. Reconmeded numbing creams are EMLA, Ametop, LMX. Please test patch yourself for this creams before applying the full amount and read the information sheet provided with the creams.
